Titusville Shooting: Man Charged with Attempted Murder, Police Report

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Titusville police announced that they have apprehended a man suspected of attempted murder, just hours after attending to a related shooting incident.

Officers arrived around 4:17 a.m. on Saturday at the scene of a shooting near the intersection of Garden Street and South Grannis Avenue, where they discovered a man with gunshot injuries, according to a news release from the Titusville Police Department. They administered life-saving aid to the injured man before paramedics transported him to a hospital. He is expected to survive his wounds, as stated in the release.

Based on crucial information swiftly gathered by detectives, the police identified and arrested a suspect. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Calvin Woodson, was located and captured in under two hours, according to the release.

Woodson faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, police said, adding he’s being held at the Brevard County Detention Center on a no bond status at the time of this report.

In a statement, Titusville police Commander Wright said that his agency wanted to thank local businesses for investing in security cameras.

“Your commitment to safety played a vital role in helping us quickly identify and apprehend the suspect in this violent crime. This partnership is a powerful example of how technology and working together can make our community safer,” Wright said.
