ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – One individual lost their life and another sustained severe injuries in a crash involving minibikes and an SUV in Orange County on Sunday evening, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the fatal crash happened on Orange Avenue and Nela Avenue around 6:27 p.m.

According to a crash report, two Coleman CT200U minibikes were traveling north on Orange Avenue, approaching Nela Avenue in the inside lane.

At the same time, an Acura MDX was stopped in the northbound inside lane on Orange Avenue for traffic ahead.

The incident occurred when the minibikes did not stop in time for an Acura ahead, resulting in both colliding with the rear of the SUV. This impact led to the riders being ejected from their minibikes.

According to the report, the driver of one minibike – identified as a 21-year-old Orlando man – was taken to ORMC where he was pronounced dead.

The second minibike driver, a 16-year-old from Orlando, was transported to ORMC with serious injuries but is reported to be in stable condition, according to FHP.

Troopers said the driver and passenger of the Acura were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
