CHURCH HILL, Tenn. (WJHL) — A crash on Carters Valley Road on Thursday evening resulted in one fatality, one injury, and a possible injury to a toddler passenger, as reported by the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).

The THP said the crash happened at 4915 Carters Valley Road at 5:44 p.m. on Thursday. There was only one vehicle involved in the crash.

The THP detailed that a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander was heading south on Carters Valley Road when it veered off the road to the right and overturned. The Outlander eventually came to a stop off the road in a field, according to the THP.

The passenger in the vehicle, Mildred Sherfey, 71, reportedly died in the crash, according to THP. Sherfey was wearing a seatbelt.

The driver, William Sherfey, 71, was injured, the THP said. Sherfey was wearing a seatbelt.

A three-year-old juvenile passenger with “possible injuries” was also in the car, according to THP.
