PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — One person is dead and two remain missing after six people went over a waterfall in Oregon, authorities said.

The group went over Dillon Falls on the Deschutes River, just outside of Bend, on Saturday.

The emergency response kicked off around 3 p.m., involving personnel from the sheriff’s office, Search and Rescue, Bend Fire & Rescue, a drone provided by Bend police, and aerial support from Airlink, according to an official statement.

One person died at the scene. Three were rescued and rushed by ambulance to St. Charles-Bend, but two others remain missing as of Sunday.

Located in the Deschutes National Forest, Dillon Falls presents a significant drop leading to a series of rapids that rush through a confined gorge formed by lava rock.
