ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A young man, aged 20, faces charges for allegedly shooting a woman in the face after she offered him a lift outside a Wawa in Orange County early Sunday morning, as detailed in an arrest affidavit.
Authorities reported that the incident unfolded when a man, referred to as “Victim 3,” reached out to a woman, known as “Victim 1,” around 12:10 a.m. seeking a ride home due to chilly weather. He proceeded to a nearby smoke shop where she was employed. The woman’s girlfriend, identified as “Victim 2,” then picked them up in her vehicle.
The trio made a stop at the Wawa located at 12083 South Orange Blossom Trail for the driver to inflate a tire, according to the sheriff’s office. As they prepared to leave, “Victim 1” spotted someone she thought was a friend named “Jameson” in the parking lot. In the spirit of kindness, she rolled down the window to offer him a ride amidst the cold conditions.
Authorities indicated that the woman and her partner lowered the vehicle windows, attempting to get the individual’s attention with waves and shouts.
Unexpectedly, the man turned towards their car, brandished a firearm, and fired three to five shots at the vehicle. In response, the car swiftly exited the parking area, merging onto South Orange Blossom Trail.
“Victim 2,” the driver, informed investigators that although the man was a friend of her girlfriend, she had known him for about six months, frequently seeing him as a customer at the smoke shop where they both worked.

According to the affidavit, she also stated that she did not know why the man would shoot at them and that she could not definitely say that it was “Jameson” because he was wearing a ski mask at the time of the shooting.
Deputies said around 12:50 a.m., “Victim 1″ arrived at Hunter’s Creek emergency room by private car with a gunshot wound to her face. She was later transferred to Osceola Regional Medical Center and was unable to speak but communicated with detectives by typing on a cellphone.
She was able to type the following statement to investigators, saying in part, “I was coming home with my girlfriend my childhood friend and we were leaving the Wawa and my other friend named Jameson was leaving and the Wawa at the same time. And so I roll my window down to say what’s up and I guess he didn’t know who I was and I told him 3 times but he’s super blind so I think he just thought it was the wrong person and shot me.“

Detectives said they reviewed Wawa surveillance footage showing a man matching the description entering the store around 12:30 a.m., making a purchase, and walking out minutes before the shooting. A blue vehicle resembling the victims’ car is seen approaching him before quickly exiting the lot, the affidavit says. Investigators also recovered three 9mm shell casings from the scene and a projectile from inside the victim’s vehicle.
Deputies said they identified the man as Jameson Delva and conducted a search warrant at his residence on Sunday evening, where “he spontaneously uttered ‘I messed up. I love you’ and hugged his brother.
According to the affidavit, the sweatshirt and the pants the suspect was wearing at the Wawa, and several loose 9mm rounds were found during a search of Delva’s residence.
Delva was placed under arrest and taken to the Orange County Jail, where he faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
