STATESVILLE, N.C. – A dramatic incident unfolded at Statesville Regional Airport on Thursday morning when a business jet, a Cessna C550, crashed during its landing approach, igniting a large blaze.

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that the crash occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m. The fiery accident has prompted investigations by both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board as they seek to uncover the cause of this unfortunate event.

WSOC-TV captured harrowing footage of the scene, where emergency responders were seen rushing to the runway amidst the flames and the debris from the downed aircraft. Their swift action was crucial in managing the aftermath of the crash.

Statesville Regional Airport, known for its facilities catering to corporate aviation, serves several Fortune 500 companies and NASCAR teams, according to its website. The airport is located about 45 miles north of Charlotte, making it a key hub for business aviation in the region.

As of now, officials have not released any information regarding potential injuries resulting from the crash, leaving many awaiting updates on the condition of those involved.
