() Thirty-five Union Pacific train cars derailed Tuesday afternoon about two miles east of Gordon in Palo Pinto County, Texas, igniting a grass fire but causing no injuries, officials said.

The derailment occurred at approximately 2 p.m. over the Coalville Road Bridge, according to Union Pacific and Palo Pinto County Emergency Services District 1.

Multiple freight and tanker cars were left on their sides in a pile-up, with smoke visible from the scene.

The Palo Pinto Fire Department responded to contain the grass fire, while additional Union Pacific crews were en route to the scene.

Fire officials said they were proceeding with caution as the incident was being treated as a hazardous materials situation.

However, Palo Pinto County ESD1 reported that no cars were leaking contents, and no evacuations had been ordered.
