Troopers Report Fatal Crash in Polk County Involving 61-Year-Old Man

    POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 61-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday morning in Polk County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

    Troopers said the crash happened around 6:13 a.m. on Old Polk City Road, near County Road 557.

    According to the FHP, a Ford F-150 and a tractor-trailer were traveling west on Old Polk City Road, east of County Road 557.

    The troopers reported that the tractor-trailer had halted due to other traffic, at which point a pickup truck did not stop in time and collided with its rear.

    The driver of the pickup truck, identified as a 61-year-old Lake Wales man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as a 38-year-old Avon Park man, was not injured.
