Trump 'explores every option on the table' as shutdown looms: Sen. Sheehy

Trump Considers All Avenues to Prevent Government Shutdown, Says Senator Sheehy

As the government shutdown lingers, Americans are grappling with the unsettling reality that their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are suspended for November. This halt in assistance leaves millions in a precarious position, uncertain of how they will secure their next meal.

SNAP, previously known as food stamps, is a lifeline for nearly 42 million Americans—approximately one in eight people in the country—helping them manage their food expenses. The suspension of these benefits due to the ongoing shutdown is causing anxiety and hardship for many households.

In a recent discussion with Batya Ungar-Sargon, Senator Tim Sheehy from Montana revealed that President Trump is actively evaluating “every option on the table” to bring the shutdown to a close and reinstate SNAP funding. Lawmakers from both sides are seeking a resolution, with Senate Republicans and Democrats working towards a compromise to end the shutdown as early as next week.
