Similar remembrance events are being held in New York City and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, which were also sites of the September 11 attacks. In total, nearly 3,000 people lost their lives in this coordinated assault.
In New York, family members of those who perished at the World Trade Center will come together at Memorial Plaza at 8:30 a.m. EDT. Here, six moments of silence will be held, and the names of victims will be read aloud. The affiliate WPIX is set to stream the ceremony live.
Meanwhile, the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville will host its annual service at 9:45 a.m. EDT on Thursday. This ceremony will be available to view via a live stream from the local affiliate WTAJ.
