DENVER (KDVR) — Two Colorado children are now safe following their mother’s alleged abduction, which led to her arrest and the issuance of a statewide Amber Alert in Texas.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office was alerted on Saturday to a situation involving the unlawful removal of a 13-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl by their mother, Magali Mejia Sanchez. According to the sheriff’s office, Mejia Sanchez, who is not legally allowed to have contact with the children, took them from their guardian.

The guardian reported that Mejia Sanchez had threatened to take the children to Mexico, heightening concerns for their safety.
