Two men lost their lives and three people, including a young boy, were injured in a shooting that occurred in a downtown Kansas City parking lot on Sunday morning.

Kansas City police explained that the initial investigation suggests an argument escalated into gunfire shortly after 4 a.m. However, the KCPD’s release did not clarify the involvement of those who were shot in the argument.

The young boy is critically injured, one man sustained serious injuries, and a woman is recovering from non-life threatening injuries. Of the deceased, one man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other succumbed to his injuries at a hospital shortly after 6:40 a.m.

Investigators are downtown looking for witnesses and surveillance video. So far no suspect information has been released.

Jackson County Sheriff Darryl Forte posted images on Facebook showing an extensive crime scene taped off, stretching from 13th Street, north of the T-Mobile Center, along Grand to 12th Street, and reaching east to McGee Street.

An employee from the College Basketball Experience told Nexstar’s FOX4 that the building sustained 31 shots, with several bullets piercing through the glass.
