SAVANNAH, Ga. () – Early Friday morning two individuals were pulled from the Savannah River near Plant Riverside after one of them fell in.
The International Association of Fire Fighters Local 574 reported that at 3:26 a.m., firefighters were called to the vicinity of Plant Riverside due to a report of an individual in the Savannah River.
As they headed to the location, they received more details. One person had accidentally fallen into the river, and another person jumped in to help but was unsuccessful, leaving both of them struggling and unable to get out of the water.
Marine 2, managed by Engine 3 staff, departed from the city dock and found both individuals holding onto a pillar. Personnel from Rescue 1 successfully extracted them from the river. The crews then took them back to the city dock, where EMS evaluated them.
