2-year-old in stable condition after being found unresponsive in Morgan Co. pool

WAVERLY, Ill. (WCIA) — A 2-year-old boy was found unresponsive in a pool in Morgan County Friday evening, but is now in stable condition.

It happened at home near Stuart and Caruthers Roads in Waverly at approximately 7 p.m. Waverly is about 40 minutes southwest of Springfield.

The Waverly Fire Department informed WCIA that the boy slipped away during a barbecue. He was soon discovered by family members, unresponsive, who then administered CPR for five minutes.

The boy was airlifted to St. John’s Hospital and was reported to be in stable condition as of 10 p.m. on Friday. Waverly and Auburn EMS were also present at the scene.

WCIA reached out to the Waverly Fire Department on Saturday for updates but did not receive an immediate response.
