VERMILION COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The Vermilion County War Museum got a surprising donation boost just two weeks ahead of their planned fundraiser.
Post 210 Legion Riders in Danville collected $3,000 worth of donations from the community on Saturday.
Museum president Larry Weatherford said the money will go a long way in helping them build new historical displays.
“Our goal is to enhance and broaden the range of displays and exhibits we offer, and this funding will significantly aid us in acquiring mannequins, apparel, and other items to authentically showcase life during specific eras – particularly during World War II,” Weatherford explained. “World War II is one of the exhibitions we’re continuously expanding, and we are thrilled to receive this financial support to advance that sector.”
On June 21st, the annual Sparky Songer Memorial Ride will happen. The event fundraises for the museum.
