A tide of transformation is sweeping through Liberty and Long Counties as United Way ushers in a new era with the appointment of Carissa Hendricks as their Regional Director. This shift promises to bolster support for countless local families, marking a hopeful chapter for the community.

Chosen in August, Hendricks brings a heartfelt commitment to her role. Deeply rooted in Liberty County, her dedication to aiding her neighbors stems from years of firsthand experience working with families in need. Now, she is poised to channel her passion into fresh initiatives aimed at uplifting her region.

In the past year alone, United Way has extended its helping hand to over 17,000 residents throughout Liberty and Long Counties. The organization’s impact is visible through initiatives like the Backpack Buddies Program, which provided nearly 300 students with meals to sustain them over weekends when school cafeterias are closed.

Given the strong military presence in both counties, United Way places a special emphasis on supporting military families. They achieve this by offering emergency financial assistance and commissary cards, which help alleviate food insecurity and other unforeseen expenses. The aim is to broaden these collaborations, particularly with local schools, ensuring comprehensive support for those in need.

“Having this leadership opportunity is a profound honor,” Hendricks expressed. “I embrace leadership with a servant’s heart. My mission is to serve the residents of Liberty and Long County, and I am genuinely excited to advance in this role, letting them know I am here to serve.”

In communities like Liberty and Long Counties, where military families, working parents, and seniors navigate distinct challenges, leadership that prioritizes service is crucial. With Hendricks at the helm, United Way is determined to extend its reach even further in the coming year.

Under Carissa Hendricks’ guidance, United Way aims to not only meet immediate needs, but to create long-term pathways of success for every corner of the counties she now proudly serves.
