United Way of Aiken County hosts inaugural women's awards luncheon

AIKEN, S.C. – Women United, part of the United Way of Aiken County, highlighted the role of women’s leadership in service, philanthropy, and community influence during a luncheon held on Thursday, May 15.

At the event, the agency awarded grants was to local non-profits that benefit women and children. 

The keynote speaker was Anita Zucker, a South Carolina billionaire and philanthropist who serves as board chair of The InterTech Group, Inc.

“It’s truly about focusing on the individuals living within your community and supporting them in leading fulfilling lives,” said Zucker. “We strive to help them succeed, especially since many still face poverty today. This event is about making a tangible difference and positively impacting the families in Aiken County.”

United Way of Aiken County serves 45 critical need programs and 30 partner agencies.
