WASHINGTON COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — A significant waterline break has led the Washington County, Virginia Service Authority to issue a precautionary boil water advisory for certain residents.
Friday evening’s advisory highlights that the break impacts customers located on Denton Valley Road between 26034 and Avens Bridge, as well as those on Driftwood Lane, Webb Drive, Silver Lake Road, Cox Mill Road, Montgomery Road, Drake Road, Offset Road, and Government Road from 1010 to its junction with Sweet Hollow Road. Additionally, Sweet Hollow Road between Dentons Valley and Government Road, along with Parks Road, is affected.
Residents in these areas are advised to either use bottled water or boil tap water for one minute, allowing it to cool before use for drinking or cooking.
The service authority is actively working on repairing the waterline and conducting cleaning and testing procedures in line with Virginia Department of Health standards.
To ensure safety, the authority plans to collect two sets of bacteriological samples from the affected areas. If these samples show no presence of total coliform or E. coli, the advisory will be lifted.
