Justin Kent as Marty Milquetoast

SAVANNAH, Ga. () — When you envision vaudeville, images of Borscht Belt comedians and elegantly costumed showgirls might come to mind. And you wouldn’t be wrong. Yet an forthcoming night of comedy and burlesque here in Savannah is set to offer a lively modern blend of satire, comedy, and performance art on stage, while preserving the nostalgia of past eras.

“Marty Milquetoast Presents: Stand Up, Strip Down,” scheduled for Friday, May 23 at Victory North, will showcase local talent well-known to many, including Marty himself. Brought to life by local performer Justin Kent, Marty channels cherished emcees like Jack Benny and Fred Allen. Having such a charismatic personality for the evening’s host amplifies the entertainment value.

“Whenever someone asks what to expect at our shows, I always say, ‘Comedy, comedy, and more comedy.’ These performances are sheer entertainment. There’s a strong element of spontaneity too. As your host for the evening, I’m experiencing many of the acts for the first time alongside the audience.”

Kent says that keeps things fresh and funny. That was the case back in January when he and his crew staged their first burlesque/comedy show. “It was sold out! We were thrilled to see the support from the community and we’re happy to bring it back for a second show.”

The show is for adults only (21+) and tickets are just $25. There will be a 2-drink minimum for all attendees and reasonably priced drink packages are available. Get your tickets here.
