Recovery center hosts motorcycle ride in Vermilion Co. to keep doors open

Vermilion County Recovery Center Organizes Motorcycle Ride to Stay Operational

The Step Recovery Center in Danville, Illinois, organized its annual Ride for Recovery on Saturday. The event was designed to gather funds to assist individuals overcoming addiction.

The fundraiser was necessary for the organization, as bikers revved their engines to keep the center’s lights on.

Founder and CEO Wendy Lambert shared, “After completing a three-year grant from the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority, we’re in urgent need of funds to keep our doors open.”

Funds were collected through an entry fee for the 100-mile motorcycle ride, a 50/50 raffle, and a silent auction—all aimed at supporting those battling addiction.

“Addiction recovery requires more than just meetings,” Lambert expressed. “There’s a harsh stereotype about addicts, but it’s important to convey that change is possible—especially in Vermilion County.”

Vermilion County is a place the Step Recovery Center said needs them now more than ever.

Kimberli Garrison, the center’s secretary, added, “Issues with drugs, alcohol, and suicide are prevalent here in Danville, and we are committed to combating these problems.”
