SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Honaker, Virginia, man was arrested Wednesday after a series of alleged burglaries in the Sullivan County area.
The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reported that Stephen Thompson, aged 38, was apprehended in Bristol, Virginia by the Bristol, Virginia Police Department (BVPD).
The SCSO stated that this arrest is linked to a series of “daylight burglaries” occurring in Sullivan County. According to a social media update from the SCSO on Tuesday, Thompson allegedly pretended to be a handyman or a contractor.
The release said BVPD officers obtained a warrant charging Thompson with aggravated burglary and aggravated trespassing.
He has been taken to the Southwest Regional Jail in Abingdon, Virginia, and will be transported back to Tennessee after the extradition process is completed, as mentioned in the release.
Additional charges against Thompson are pending, according to the SCSO.
The SCSO thanked the BVPD for its assistance.
