VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A man wanted for a violent assault against his girlfriend, captured on video, has been apprehended, according to Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood.
Authorities arrested Scott Knowlton on Saturday at a residence located on the 1100 block of Avenue G, in proximity to Ormond Beach, as reported by Chitwood via social media.
The sheriff’s office had been actively sharing investigation footage since Thursday, which included surveillance videos allegedly showing Knowlton assaulting his girlfriend.
Chitwood detailed the incident, stating, “VSO Chief Deputy Brian Henderson witnessed the assault and intervened, but Knowlton fled, leaving behind a bag with a revolver and trafficking quantities of meth and fentanyl.” Knowlton was wanted on multiple warrants, including fentanyl trafficking, and faced new charges such as kidnapping, battery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. A $1,000 reward had been offered for tips leading to his capture.

After conducting several hours of surveillance on Avenue G, the sheriff’s office reported that Knowlton was seen leaving the house on Saturday, disguised in a hoodie and sunglasses.
“Upon realizing he was spotted, Scott ran back inside, then jumped out a rear window,” Chitwood said. “Unfortunately for him, the house was surrounded. Scott tried to run again but realized he might as well surrender in the (backyard).”
Chitwood said it was a tipster after all who led Volusia deputies to that home.
“A tipster who will remain anonymous is $1K richer thanks to the info that helped make this arrest possible,” the sheriff wrote.
