CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Starting Monday, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) will limit traffic on Wilbur Dam Road bridge to a single lane.

According to a TVA news release, temporary traffic signals will be installed at both ends of the bridge to manage the one-lane traffic flow during the TVA’s bridge replacement project.

The project is expected to last through the summer of 2027, according to the TVA.

The TVA stated, “The project aims to enhance the safety and reliability of the bridge over Wilbur Reservoir on Wilbur Dam Road.” This bridge is crucial as it serves as the only vehicle route to TVA’s nearby Watauga Dam, its recreational facilities, and some nearby residences.
