Two arrested in Washington County for child exploitation, firearms

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ga. – On Friday, November 7, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search of a residence on Highway 15 North in Warthen, Georgia, following a tip-off from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) related to child pornography.

During the search, authorities discovered marijuana and two firearms in the home.

As a result, 69-year-old Rusty David Eakin was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

While executing the search warrant, investigators were provided with the name of another individual associated with the residence.

Subsequently, investigators proceeded to a second location where they arrested 37-year-old Joseph Rusy Eakin, charging him with sexual exploitation of children.

Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran indicated that further charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation ICAC Task Force in this case.
