ORLANDO, Fla. – Are you one of those drivers who treats the left lane as your personal resting spot? Setting up camp, toasting marshmallows, and staying put while traffic accumulates behind you? If that’s the case, we need to have a conversation.

Florida lawmakers have been grappling with this issue and recently proposed making the left lane a “passing-only” zone on certain highways. However, here’s the twist: those proposals didn’t quite reach the finish line.

So, what exactly is the law right now, and what could it look like in the future?

That’s what we’re diving into in today’s Trooper Steve on Patrol stream at 10 a.m. We’ll break down:

  • What’s already on the books when it comes to left-lane driving.

  • The recent bills that aimed to change how the left lane is used.

  • Why enforcement can still be a little confusing.

And of course, we’ll take Results-1 out on the road to demonstrate the right way (and the wrong way) to use the left lane.

Don’t overlook this; it might save you from a ticket and could earn you a honk of approval instead of annoyance on your next journey on the highway.
