JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee announced the arrest of two individuals on Tuesday, who were wanted in connection to aggravated child abuse and endangerment charges.

Harry James Reed II, 26, and Alexis D. Austin, 22, both of Johnson City, were arrested at a residence in Gray on Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said.

Sheriff Keith Sexton revealed that a grand jury indicted Reed and Austin in January for severe child abuse and neglect charges for a child under 8 years old, as well as for aggravated and regular child endangerment. These charges stemmed from an investigation that took place in January 2024.

The WCSO said an anonymous tip led to the arrests after “multiple attempts were made to locate the pair.”

Both Reed and Austin were taken into custody and transferred to the Washington County Detention Center. Austin faced a $50,000 bond, while Reed, who had additional outstanding warrants for failure to appear and probation violation, had his bond set at $75,000.

The pair will appear in Washington County Criminal Court next term, according to the WCSO.
