As the season changes, it seems like everyone is either battling a cold or doing their best to steer clear of one. It’s that time of year when staying healthy feels like a full-time job.

Amidst these options, one woman has shared a particular drink that promises immediate relief for a sore throat and offers numerous health benefits beneath the surface.
On TikTok, user @thewellnessspot showcased a simple recipe requiring just three ingredients, which could have you on the mend in no time.
In her video, she captions: “Is anyone else feeling under the weather? Ginger tea offers a multitude of benefits, including relief from pain and nausea, reduction of inflammation, and even alleviation of morning sickness! The best part? It only takes 20 minutes to prepare.”
She wrote alongside the video: “Anyone else feeling sick right now!? Ginger tea has a ton of benefits, ranging from pain and nausea relief, inflammation, and even morning sickness! The best part… it only takes 20 minutes to make.”
Initially, you’ll require some ginger root, lemon, and local honey.
Naturally, you’ll also need water to create the beverage.
You must “wash and peel the ginger,” before “thinly slicing” it.
Next, the ginger requires placing into a saucepan of boiling water for 10-20 minutes.
While you’re waiting, chop your lemon, and get ready to add a squeeze of honey into your chosen mug.
After the ginger has simmered for the specified duration, filter it into a glass, then “add the lemon and honey to taste”.
She included a liberal dollop of honey, squeezed some lemon into the mixture, then finished it with several lemon slices for additional vitamin C. Healthline reveals that “ginger may have numerous health benefits due to anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea, and other properties. It may aid digestion, reduce nausea, manage arthritis, alleviate menstrual symptoms, and more”.
The Cleveland Clinic states ginger can boost your immune system thanks to its abundant antioxidant content, while also providing anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, antiviral and antibacterial properties.
Lemons are equally beneficial for your health, with Healthline noting they pack a high amount of vitamin C, soluble fibre, and plant compounds. Lemons aren’t just incredibly nutritious but also boast a distinctive, delightful taste and aroma that makes them an excellent addition to meals and beverages.
They certainly help tone down the ginger flavour, which can be rather intense when consumed alone.
Honey brings its own impressive array of health advantages, serving as more than just a natural sweetener for your beverage.
Healthline reports that honey is packed with nutrients and antioxidants, whilst possessing antibacterial qualities.
Lightly processed honey contains numerous vital bioactive plant compounds and antioxidants, including flavonoids and phenolic acids.
Darker types typically provide more antioxidants compared to lighter alternatives.
It’s also gentler on blood sugar levels than conventional sugar, so when you need a touch of sweetness, it’s preferable to add a drizzle of honey rather than reaching for sugar to enhance the flavour.
