Bruno Fernandes’ arrival in January gave Manchester United fans a much needed boost and the Portuguese playmaker has played a crucial part in reviving the club’s season.
Back-to-back defeats to Liverpool and Burnley in January increased the pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and it looked like the writing was on the wall with the sight of thousands of fans streaming out of Old Trafford with the side 2-0 down against the Clarets.
But Fernandes’ £48m arrival from Sporting Lisbon helped to rescue United’s season as the playmaker raised the performance level of his team-mates, while also scoring four goals of his own in ten appearances.
Fernandes’ displays have given United supporters reason to be cheerful but the long injury absence of Paul Pogba has robbed fans of the chance to see their dream midfield in action.
Though supporters are likely to have to wait at least another few weeks before seeing the pair in action, photos from today’s training session of Fenandes and Pogba together was enough to whet the appetite for fans.
