Sir Anthony Hopkins has put his California estate on the market for £5.1 million following its destruction by the wildfires that swept through Los Angeles earlier this year.

The renowned Oscar winner, aged 87, is seeking $6.4 million (£5.1 million) for the two adjoining plots that suffered extensive damage in the blaze. Hopkins initially acquired the property in two separate transactions in 2018 and 2019, investing a total of $12.6 million (£10 million) at the time.

Despite the significant loss, the “Silence of the Lambs” actor has maintained a resilient outlook. In an interview with The Mirror, he reflected on the situation, stating, “As we all struggle to heal from the devastation of these fires, it’s important we remember that the only thing we take with us is the love we give.”

This unfortunate event marks not the first time Hopkins’s home has been threatened by fire, underscoring a history of vulnerability to such natural disasters in the area.

Speaking to The Mirror, he said: ‘As we all struggle to heal from the devastation of these fires, it’s important we remember that the only thing we take with us is the love we give.’

This isn’t the first time Anthony’s home has faced the threat of fire.

Back in November 2018, his Malibu home narrowly escaped the Woolsey Fire, which destroyed his neighbour’s property.

Even earlier, in 2000, he lost his London home in a separate blaze, though he was in Los Angeles at the time.

January’s wildfires killed ten people and forced thousands from their homes, devastating the Palisades neighbourhood.

Among those affected were celebrities including Paris Hilton, Billy Crystal, Diane Warren, and Ricki Lake.

Paris, 43, said she watched her waterfront Malibu home burn to the ground on live television in an emotional social media post.

‘Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience,’ the socialite said on X/Twitter, accompanied by a clip from KABC depicting the damage.

Anna Faris, 48, also lost her $5million mansion during the devastating Pacific Palisades fire.

The 4,000 square foot home, which she snapped up for almost $5M in 2019, was seen charred to its foundation in new images.

Anthony originally purchased the estate in two parts back in 2018 and 2019, spending a total of $12.6 million (£10 million) (his home pictured in 2021)

Top Gun: Maverick star Miles Teller and his wife, Keleigh, bought their dream home for $7.5million in April 2023. However, their home was entirely wiped out.

Keleigh had shared several photos on Instagram at the time, the first being a dramatic photo of the blaze with a crying emoji, and the second urging evacuees to leave bowls of water on the streets for animals as they escaped.

Meanwhile, American Pie star Eugene Levy’s home had also been levelled.

The 78-year-old Schitt’s Creek star lost his home in LA’s Pacloific Palisades neighbourhood after the rapidly spreading Westside fire burned it to the ground.

He told the Los Angeles Times that he had been caught in gridlock traffic as he tried to evacuate the neighbourhood ahead of the flames.

Levy had reportedly purchased his property back in 2006 for a relatively modest $3.9 million, according to Urban Splatter.
