Three family members who were found deceased on a Pennsylvania property in late October died from the coronavirus, officials said Wednesday.

Ruth Kinsey, 68, was reportedly found on the kitchen floor of her Conemaugh Township home, while her brother, Richard Kinsey, 70, was discovered in a living room chair. Their brother, Donald Kinsey, 72, was found in bed in a camper, which was in a barn on the property, according to The Tribune-Democrat.

The three siblings are believed to have died five to six days before they were discovered on October 25. They were reportedly found deceased during a welfare check.

Cambria County Coroner Jeffrey Lees said the Kinseys died from COVID, noting that all three had underlying health conditions.

According to the Associated Press, Lees said the three siblings tested positive for COVID and their lungs “were heavy and congested.” Officials did not say whether they were vaccinated.

Autopsies performed on October 26 did not uncover any signs of trauma, WJAC reported.

“At the time of the deaths, it was odd that you have three individuals deceased within a short period of time in the same proximity to each other,” Lees said, according to The Tribune-Democrat.

“That’s why we did the autopsy, the toxicology and microbiology tests. The forensic facts are what they are.”
