Press release from the U.S. Attorney, Northern District of Florida

Updated at 8 p.m. with sentence.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Daurin Abimael Roblero Perez, a 28-year-old from Mexico, was sentenced to one year and one day in prison after pleading guilty to reentering the U.S. illegally following deportation. This sentence was announced by John P. Heekin, the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

According to records from the court, Roblero Perez was found to be in the U.S. unlawfully after being arrested in Alachua County, Florida, for driving without a valid license. When booked into Alachua County Jail, it was revealed that Roblero Perez was a Mexican national who had been deported from the U.S. in July 2020. He acknowledged that he hadn’t sought nor received permission from the Secretary of Homeland Security or the Attorney General to reenter. Instead, he reentered the U.S. by “walking across at Arizona” around 2023.

U.S. Attorney Heekin stated, “President Donald J. Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi have prioritized enforcing our country’s immigration laws, and my office is committed to supporting this priority. This sentence should serve as a warning to all undocumented individuals that my office will not overlook violations of our immigration laws.”

The conviction and sentence were the result of an investigation by the United States Department of Homeland Security’s Enforcement and Removal Operations. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Adam Hapner.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America ( a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieves the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protects our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
