In Sarasota, Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis unveiled a new speech and debate competition at a press conference held at the New College of Florida. Joining him were Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins, Florida Department of Education Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas, and Richard Corcoran, the president of New College of Florida.

The competition, set to take place next April at the college, will honor the late political commentator Charlie Kirk, who was tragically shot while leading a debate event on a university campus last month. The competition’s top prize will be named in his memory, and the winner will be awarded a $50,000 scholarship.
