A new Coronation Street video has revealed a behind-the-scenes look at the world’s first socially distanced stunt.

Gary (Mikey North) is danger of being exposed, as Rick Neelan’s (Greg Wood) watch was found in the woods by Bernie (Jane Hazelgrove) during the latest episode.

Naturally, this discovery proves to be the catalyst in the events which follow, as Sarah (Tina O’Brien) — who comes into possession of the watch —demands answers from Gary.

The loan shark eventually comes clean, and Sarah is utterly terrified by his admissions, and therefore runs away — desperately attempting to phone the police in the process.

She steps out into the middle of the road, and thus finds herself in danger as a car comes hurtling towards her, but Gary pushes her out of the way, and ultimately collides with the on-coming vehicle.

The scene in question is the world’s first socially distanced stunt, and actor Mikey spoke about filming the sequence in a new video.

He said: ‘We’re attempting a social distancing stunt, which obviously I don’t think we’ve ever done before, so it’s interesting, but good fun!

‘We had a wonderful mannequin playing the role of Tina O’Brien — not as good as Tina!’

Mikey did his own stunt for the scene — which can be seen in the video above.

He said: ‘It’s always nice to try and do your own stunts and try and play the action hero for five minutes.

‘I love doing all this stuff and being thrown on crash mats and climbing over cars and things, it’s one of the best parts of the job for me.’

Coronation Street continues Monday 27 July at 7:30pm on ITV.
