An iconic actor, best known for his role in a beloved 1980s cult film, recently made a rare public appearance in Los Angeles.

Now 61, this actor has shared the screen with Hollywood legends such as Cher, Sally Field, and Eric Stoltz over the years.

His filmography spans various genres, including a memorable role in the 1984 horror movie, “Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter.”

In addition to his film work, he ventured into television in the 1990s, appearing in popular series like “Beverly Hills, 90210,” “Touched By An Angel,” “ER,” “Star Trek: Enterprise,” and “Cold Case.”

Despite this extensive career, his last known project dates back to 2013, when he participated in a “Friday the 13th” documentary.

It is Lawrence Monoson – who is known for portraying the lead role of Gary in the now-cult classic The Last American Virgin (1982) as well as the Oscar-winning movie Mask (1985). 

He enjoyed a casual stroll earlier this week on Wednesday while sporting a printed black shirt as well as a pair of gray sweatpants. 

The star slipped into a pair of black shoes and held a conversation on the phone while enjoying the warm sunshine. 

Monoson’s professional acting career began when he was a teenager – and his first movie credit was The Last American Virgin in 1982, which was based on the 1978 Israeli film Lemon Popsicle. 

The coming-of-age sex comedy was written and directed by Boaz Davidson, while also starring Diane Franklin and Steve Antin. 

The premise is: ‘Pizza delivery boy Gary, loudmouth David and hunky Rick are three high school students out to lose their virginity any way they can. Gary falls for transfer student Karen, who gets involved with Rick,’ per IMDB

Monoson was just 16-years-old when he got cast in the project and during a past interview with The I.E. Network, the actor discussed landing the lead role of Gary. 

He explained that he was auditioning for a different part due to the character Gary already being cast at the time, but after reading lines from the script – the role was offered to him.

And in regards to The Last American Virgin becoming a cult classic among fans, Monoson expressed that it was ‘remarkable.’ 

‘I think that it’s remarkable that this many years later, that people are still interested in this movie.’ 

Monson added, ‘I think it’s a beautiful thing and I’ve met people – especially young men, you know… but I feel like so many of them have expressed to me just their feelings of what it was like to see somebody that they can relate to on the screen.

‘Somebody who did get their heart broken, somebody who did not get the beautiful girl in the end,’ the star said, referencing to his character’s fate at the end of the film.

He continued, ‘To be represented like that I think made a powerful mark on them.’ 

Two years later, Monoson dabbled in the horror genre and played a role in Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter (1984). 

The movie is the fourth installment in the Friday The 13th franchise and also starred Kimberly Beck, Corey Feldman and Crispin Glover. 

He also portrayed Ben in Mask (1985) alongside Cher, Eric Stoltz and Sam Elliott.

The biographical drama film garnered critical acclaim upon its release in theaters at the time – and was based on Roy L. ‘Rocky’ Dennis, a boy who had suffered from craniodiaphyseal dysplasia. 

The movie won the Academy Award for Best Makeup in 1986 – with Cher garnering a Best Actress nomination during the Golden Globes that same year. 

Stoltz also received a Golden Globe nod for Best Supporting Actor. 

Monoson’s acting career continued into the 90s where he appeared in shows such as Beverly Hills, 90210 and the TV miniseries A Woman Of Independent Means (1995).

Monoson went on to take on minor roles in other series including Chicago Hope, ER and Resurrection Blvd. 

The New York-born actor additionally starred in episodes of NCIS, Medium, The Closer and Cold Case. 

His last credited TV role was when he appeared in an episode of CSI:NY back in 2010. 

While it appears Monoson took a break from acting in 2013, he is slated to star in an upcoming short film titled The Chip Person, according to his official IMDB page.
