Abdulaziz Yari, a former governor of Zamfara, has been elected to the Senate seat for Zamfara West under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

At the Talata-Mafara collation centre on Monday, the Zamfara West Senatorial Election results were announced by the Returning Officer, Rufus Tinuola.

Tinuola said Yari got 147,346 votes, while Bello S-Fagon, who was running for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), got 58,832 votes.

“Having satisfied the requirements of the law, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Zamfara West Senatorial District, Abdul’aziz Yari, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” he added.

Sha’ayau Sarkinfawa, a leader of the APC in the state, praised the people of the area for voting for Yari for the Senate position.

Sarkinfawa said that Yari has the qualifications to represent Zamfara West in the Red Chamber based on his experience as governor of the state.
