Murja Ibrahim Kunya, a popular Tiktok user, has been sent to prison by a Kano State Sharia court in Filin Hoki, Kano. She is accused of breaking Islamic law and threatening people on Tiktok.

Murja appeared in court before Abdullahi Halliru on two counts of allegedly threatening to attack some individuals and publishing inflammatory videos that go counter to the norms and teachings of Islam, potentially leading others astray.

Remember that the Tiktoker was picked up by the police after the Council of Ulama filed a complaint.

But when she was brought before the court, she said she wasn’t guilty of the charges against her.

The judge adjourned the case to February 16, 2023, for a resumption of the hearing and ordered the detainee to remain in custody.

While this was going on, Kunya’s lawyer, Barrister Yasir Musa, asked the court to send her to Hisbah custody or the police instead of prison. However, the defendant’s lawyer, Barrister Lamido ABBA Soron Dinki, said no.
