This is the moment furious locals confronted a ‘delusional’ African ‘queen’ after setting up her own mini fiefdom in a patch of Scottish woodland.

Jean Gasho, who refers to herself as ‘Queen Nandi’, captured video footage of individuals she alleges were harassing her group recently and shared it on her social media platforms.

The 43-year-old from Zimbabwe is joined by her husband, Kofi Offeh, 36, from Ghana, who goes by ‘King Atehene’, and his handmaiden, Asnat, an American named Kaura Taylor, 21. Together, they are on a quest to reclaim land they believe was taken from their ancestors.

The trio has established what they describe as a royal ‘dynasty’ in a Scottish woodland, asserting it was once the land of their ‘lost tribe’ and is now part of the northern Kingdom of Kubala.

In a video shared by Ms. Gasho, two men with a dog are seen next to the group’s tents, appearing to harass the self-declared Kubala Kingdom members and shouting at them.

She was recording the footage, that appeared to show the two men shouting hate, swearing and pointing at her and other members of the group.

According to the video, the men said they were from Jedburgh. When Ms. Gasho mentioned they were filming to report the incident to the police, the men responded, “What are the police going to do?” while gesturing and using profanity.

One of the men said: ‘This is a rapist cult and I will always stick to that’.

The other man said: ‘This is sad, that you’ve actually lost your heritage.’

He continued to defend the other man, dressed in a white hoodie, raging: ‘Free speech – he can say whatever he wants.’

The two men then continued to berate Ms Gasho, calling her ‘delusional’.

The man in the blue t-shirt said: ‘Stop pulling the racist card. The only reason why the police and everyone else isn’t getting involved and the group isn’t getting shifted properly – is because they are so scared of being called racist.’

Later on in the video, at least six other people arrive, some minors – all walking past Jean when she tries to get them to leave, saying: ‘The police are on the way.’

A woman in the video starts shouting and pointing at Jean, stating she ‘is not allowed to video’.

Ms Gasho later posted more videos, one showing the group going about their rituals in front of a fire – when the same minors and men got very close to them, shouting and putting their phones right in the group’s faces.

In one clip, a man with a blue hoodie can be heard speaking to the tribe, telling them: ‘You’re an absolute f****** idiot, you’re delusional.’

A further video shows police arriving to carry out a ‘welfare check’, asking the tribe if the public ‘hurt [them] in anyway’ or ‘destroyed their property’.

While a clip released on Tuesday afternoon appeared to show a woman also harassing the tribe.

Speaking at the scene today, Ms Gasho said: ‘The Kingdom of Kubala suffers violence – this was said 2,000 years ago, that the kingdom will suffer violence.

‘This is not the first time we have experienced something like this. We experienced this on a very large scale in Stockton in 2024 – abuse all the time, people threatening to burn us alive.

‘This is not something new to Kubala – we have experienced it before. In Jedburgh, it is just beginning.

‘It is always traumatic to experience something like that, but we have faith in something that is bigger than the physical.

‘We know that we do not have the help of the system – they will not rush to protect us, so we always remain steadfast in our God.

‘We pray while this is happening and we chant and sing to get us through. That’s what gets us through it.’

The self-proclaimed ‘King’ of the tribe, Mr Offeh added: ‘They come every day – morning, afternoon and evening. We do not find difficulty in speaking to our enemies, for we are not afraid. We speak to them the words they need to hear.

‘He came here this morning too – he is one of the people that harass us really badly. I was sitting in here, and then I just heard somebody walking around. I peeped out, and he was going around with his dog, videoing and taking pictures while we were sleeping.

‘If there was anything the police would do, they would have done it by now. Our tent got burned and the police didn’t come. We do not put our trust in the police – our only protection comes from our creator.’

Ms Gasho added: ‘Sometimes they come as a group, shouting abuse, and we just have to stay in the tent.’

The so-called ‘King Atehene and Queen Nandi’ were evicted last month from their original base on land belonging to Scottish Borders council which they renamed Mount Shungu.

The self-described tribe set up in Scotland after wandering over the border from Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham.

Mr Offeh’s ‘handmaiden’, Ms Taylor, vanished from her home in Texas with her one-year-old daughter three months ago before appearing with the wannabe royals in Scotland.

Her aunt Vandora Skinner previously told the Daily Mail her niece and the child were living with her in Cedar Hill, south of Dallas before they suddenly left around May 23.

She said the former fast food restaurant worker and high school graduate met the couple online and began acting strangely before leaving America with her baby daughter.

The child is now in the care of the UK authorities after officials found her and Ms Taylor living on a makeshift campsite, she said.

Ms Taylor has insisted she is ‘very happy with my King and Queen’, is ‘not being abused’ and was ‘never missing’.

Addressing the UK authorities, she said: ‘Leave me alone. I am an adult, not a helpless child.’

She is thought to have entered the UK on a six-month visa due to expire in November.
