Ariana Grande brought her comedic flair to the latest episode of SNL, where she humorously teased fellow pop sensation Katy Perry before delivering a spot-on impersonation of Celine Dion.
The 32-year-old singer and actress, who recently shared a rare photo of her boyfriend Ethan Slater on social media, showcased her talent in several sketches throughout the evening, with musical guest Cher adding to the excitement.
Among the skits was a segment focused on unexpected Christmas duets featuring beloved musicians.
This fresh take, dubbed the ‘Random Duet Christmas Spectacular,’ spotlighted modern music icons in surprising pairings.
The first act featured Katy Perry and Bob Dylan as an improbable duo collaborating on a festive tune, with Grande stepping into Perry’s shoes and James Austin Johnson taking on the role of Dylan.
Grande channeled Perry by donning a long dark wig and an astronaut outfit, nodding to Perry’s much-talked-about Blue Origin space flight from earlier this year in April.

At the time, the singer had been joined by an all-female crew including Lauren Sanchez and Gayle King.
Following the successful 11-minute flight on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin Space Mission, Perry had stepped out of the shuttle to immediately kiss the ground outside.
While up in the air, the performer had also promoted her upcoming tour dates and held a daisy in a sweet nod to her daughter of the same name – whom she shares with ex Orlando Bloom.
The mission garnered backlash at the time – and the songstress later brushed aside trolls as well as criticism when her Lifetimes Tour kicked off soon after.
Grande then belted out, ‘Baby you’re a Christmas tree!’ to the tune of Perry’s hit song Firework while also impersonating her voice.
The former Nickelodeon star further continued, ‘Went to outer space,’ as Johnson’s portrayal of Dylan also chimed in with lyrics such as ‘It’s in space.’
Grande then later also played Celine Dion while Johnson did an impression of Italian singer Andrea Bocelli.
Both Dion and Bocelli have performed on stage together in the past to sing songs including The Prayer.

Grande and Johnson also sang a holiday song to the tune of The Prayer as the actress also nailed her impression of Dion with high notes.
She wore a shimmering silver dress while Johnson wore a white suit – similar looks to what Dion and Bocelli had also donned during their performance of The Prayer back in 2011 in Central Park.
Additional SNL cast members had the chance to step into the shoes of other well-known music artists as more unlikely Christmas duet pairings.
Sarah Sherman did an impersonation of Kate Bush while Bowen Yang played Yoko Ono.
Stevie Wonder was portrayed by Kenan Thompson who was paired with Benson Boone.
As Thompson played to the tune of the 1972 track Superstition, a cast member playing Boone flipped out onto the stage and crashed into the piano.
It was in reference to the Beautiful Things singer often doing his signature backflips while performing on stage.
Other music artists that the SNL cast played in the sketch included Bruce Springsteen, Bad Bunny, Bjork and Post Malone.

The skit came to an end as a voice over announced, ‘It’s the Random Duet Christmas Spectacular, coming to Peacock December 33rd – What? That can’t be right.’
Social media users soon jumped over to X to share their thoughts on the skit as Grande hosted SNL.
One penned, ‘ariana imitating katy stoppp #SNL,’ and another typed, ‘Ariana hitting katy notes like nothing.’
‘Ariana as Celine Dion,’ a fan wrote, alongside a gif saying ‘Perfect’ over an episode of The Golden Girls.
An X user said, ‘Never thought we would get an Ariana Perry in my life. And such a cute reaction btw.’
‘Ariana grande should just be on SNL cast,’ one suggested and another wrote, ‘Ari’s Katy Perry is stupid funny.’
And another fan added, ‘Ariana channeling Katy Perry in that iconic spacesuit look on SNL is pure gold. The ponytail upgrade is everything.’

Grande is no stranger to her celebrity impressions – and has done multiple over the years.
Back in 2015, the actress took part in the game called Wheel Of Musical Impressions on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.
She had the chance to impersonate a number of music artists such as Dion, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the time.
And last year while hosting SNL, Grande imitated Jennifer Coolidge in a humorous skit that spoofed Maybelline makeup.
