Boy, aged 13, charged with robbery, assault

A 13-year-old boy has been charged with multiple offences, including robbery, assault, and breaching bail, following a series of alleged criminal activities in Sydney earlier this month.

The sequence of events commenced last Tuesday when police responded to a call at a hotel located on Devonshire Street in Surry Hills, where a robbery had reportedly taken place.

Upon arrival, officers were informed that a young boy had snatched a backpack belonging to a 36-year-old woman before fleeing the scene.

The boy is accused of punching the man several times in the face before attempting to steal items from him. (AAP)

Shortly thereafter, another incident emerged at Central Station. A 59-year-old man reported being assaulted after intervening when he noticed the same boy trailing a group of women.

The police investigation revealed that the man had approached the teenager, allowing the women an opportunity to leave the premises.

During this confrontation, the boy allegedly struck the man multiple times in the face and attempted to steal his belongings.

No medical treatment was necessary for the man.

Police launched a search for the boy and early yesterday arrested him at Seaforth on the Northern Beaches when they were called to an abandoned, stolen Toyota ute that had crashed on Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation.

The teenager was refused bail and is due to face the children’s court today.
