For the first time, One Nation is on level pegging with the Coalition, presenting a major challenge for new Liberal leader Angus Taylor in winning back conservative voters.
Today’s opinion poll by the Resolve Political Monitor, published in The Sydney Morning Herald was the first since Taylor deposed Sussan Ley last Friday.

Recent polling indicates that One Nation has gained substantial momentum, with its primary vote support climbing to 23 percent, now on par with the Coalition.

“Our aim is to reconnect with our supporters by actively addressing the key issues that resonate with them,” a party spokesperson emphasized.

The newly appointed Liberal leadership is primarily tasked with navigating the highly contentious issue of immigration, which has significantly fueled One Nation’s recent popularity surge.

Last weekend, Taylor heightened the rhetoric surrounding immigration, questioning whether the current influx of migrants aligns with Australian values and if the demographic composition has been appropriate so far.

Today, Hume reassured the public that the revised Liberal policy on immigration and refugees would steer clear of any racist undertones.

“It’s crucial for us to reduce the numbers to allow housing, infrastructure, and services to adequately accommodate the rapid population growth,” she stated.

“But we also need to ensure that we have our way of life protected.”
