An Australian baby formula company has sealed a deal to send supplies of its product to the US, as the country grapples with shortages.
Right now, American parents are struggling to feed their children.
Bubs Australia will send 27.5 million bottles of formula to the US, in what US President Joe Biden described as “more good news”.
“We’re doing everything in our power to get more formula on shelves as soon as possible,” he said.
The shortage comes after a major manufacturer closed its Michigan site, leaving a huge gap in the market.
Bubs Australia CEO and founder Kirsty Carr said the company was proud to have been working around the clock to fulfil the order.
“Since we have been working on this special project with the United States over the last couple of weeks we have been turning on the facility to 24/7 and we have three different production teams running three shifts a day,” she said.
Bubs Australia promises the deal will not affect supply levels in Australia, stating it has the capacity to triple production at the Dandenong factory.
