The federal government has revealed Australia’s emissions reduction goals for the year 2035 and announced billions in additional funding to assist the nation in achieving this target, while simultaneously boosting the economy by trillions of dollars, increasing the average wealth by $36,000 per citizen.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese declared today that the nation’s goal is to slash total carbon emissions by 62 to 70 per cent relative to 2005 levels.

“This is a responsible target supported by science and a practical plan to get there and built on proven technology,” he said.

“We are firm in our commitment to net zero by 2050. Achieving this means balancing the aspirations of future generations with the need for Australian industries to remain competitive internationally,” stated Bran Black, chief executive.

“The Business Council of Australia has consistently advocated for a definitive plan and ambitious yet realistic targets that offer business investment certainty and facilitate the sustained provision of affordable and dependable energy as we progress toward net zero.”

“Today’s announcements are encouraging steps towards bridging funding gaps and enhancing the investments required to meet the 2035 targets and fortify our economy,” they added.
