The 43-year-old joined Rudd and Rabbi Yehoram Ulman in a Democrat Senate leader Chuck Schumer in New York on Friday.

In a notable acknowledgment, Schumer, who made history as the first Jewish leader of the Senate majority during the Biden era, commended al-Ahmed for his courageous actions during the recent Bondi Beach terror incident.

The Syrian-born father gained widespread acclaim after footage of him bravely subduing the assailant went viral.

“Your bravery is commendable,” Schumer remarked.

“You’ve played a crucial role in fostering unity, which is invaluable.”

Ahmed expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet Rudd, describing it as “a great honor” on social media.

In their conversation, they discussed Ahmed’s recovery journey and the intense moment he confronted the attacker.

“The best country in the world, I’m an Aussie and I put my blood to my country,” Ahmed told Rudd.

Rudd told Ahmed he did an “extraordinary thing” and Australia loves him for it.

“Your image went out across the world,” Rudd said.

“We love you, you’re a good bloke.”
