Emergency services are scouring a waterway north of Brisbane after two women lost contact with their friend.
Police said the pair raised the alarm with a nearby landholder about 8pm on Wednesday after the man went missing near Cedar Creek, in the Moreton Bay region.
They said the 29-year-old, from Aspley in Brisbane’s north, got into trouble making his way back to the car park.
“The two women heard the man’s calls for help but contact was lost,” police said, in a statement.
“They were not physically injured and assisted police with their enquiries.”
The search, which began on Wednesday night, was set to continue at first light on Thursday, including swift water rescue crews and Polair.
Police also called on locals to check their properties for the possibly disoriented man and for drivers to come forward if they had seen him or given him a lift.
