A bitter court battle between an ex-senator and an alleged Parliament House sexual assault victim is set to be decided.

Linda Reynolds, the former boss of Brittany Higgins, has initiated a defamation lawsuit over several social media posts that she claims have harmed her reputation.

The long-awaited judgment is due to be handed down on Wednesday by Justice Paul Tottle in Western Australia’s Supreme Court.

Reynolds made a surprising revelation when she connected this affair to Senator Kitching’s death from a suspected heart attack in March 2022. During emotional testimony, she claimed her friend was bullied by colleagues.

Former Prime Minister Scott Morrison expressed that the accusations made by Ms. Higgins against Reynolds were used as a tool to undermine his government, with the political attacks being systematic and forceful.

Rachael Young, Ms. Higgins’ attorney, described her client as a brave individual who faced legal action for speaking out. She asserted that Higgins’ intention was not to damage the senator but to advocate for workplace improvements and prevent others from undergoing similar experiences.

Ms Higgins alleged she was raped by Lehrmann in the senator’s ministerial suite in March 2019.

In a defamation case involving Lehrmann and Network Ten, a Federal Court judge concluded that, based on the balance of probabilities, Lehrmann had raped Ms. Higgins in the office.

Lehrmann is appealing that finding.

He has always denied the rape allegation and his criminal trial was derailed by juror misconduct.
