This morning, a car collided with five other vehicles on a prominent road in Adelaide, leading to major traffic disruptions during the busy peak period and resulting in substantial damage costs.

9News has obtained exclusive CCTV footage of the car leaving a trail of destruction about 9.30am

One witness, Roman Mukhi, estimated the Mazda’s speed to have been “about 100km/h”.

One of the damaged vehicles belonged to 84-year-old Rosslyn Laidlaw, who had just arrived at a nearby hairdresser. 

“All of a sudden there was this bang, and then it went bang, bang, bang, bang and the hairdresser said, ‘Oh my god, that’s four cars’,” Laidlaw said.

According to witnesses, the Mazda was observed driving unpredictably on the median strip before it eventually halted on the other side of the road.

Despite the extensive damage, no injuries were reported.

The 79-year-old male driver of the Mazda was taken to hospital as a precaution, but didn’t have any invisible injuries.

Traffic was restricted in both directions for several hours as emergency services attended the scene. 

All vehicles involved were towed away before midday. 

Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crashes are ongoing.
