At 51, Lane has been observed participating in a supervised day release program alongside her partner, Patrick Cogan, from the high-security Silverwater Correctional Facility.
Cogan has taken legal steps by filing a complaint with the Fair Work Commission following his dismissal.
In 2010, Lane was convicted for the 1996 murder of her newborn daughter, Tegan, leading to a prison sentence with a minimum term of 13 years and five months.
The ex-water polo champion, who has consistently claimed her innocence, has been moved through several of New South Wales’ most secure prisons.
Her application for parole was declined in 2024 due to the state’s legislation that requires the discovery of a body before parole can be granted.
To this day, Tegan’s remains have not been located.
“In circumstances where Tegan’s body has never been found, the offender’s case in respect of release to parole, has been determined solely by reference to s 135A of the Crimes (Administration of Sentences) Act 1999, which incorporates the ‘no body, no parole’ laws,” the NSW State Parole Authority said.
“The Authority is not satisfied that the offender has co-operated satisfactorily in police investigations, or other actions, to identify the location of Tegan.”
Her prison term is due to finish in December 2028.
Lane tried to appeal her conviction after being found guilty in 2010, however that appeal was dismissed.
