One of South Australia’s most notorious paedophiles has been granted parole after serving eight years behind bars.

Anthony Munro, once a scout leader, has been imprisoned for the heinous sexual abuse of several children spanning from the 1960s to the 1990s.

The nearly octogenarian appeared frail as he exited the Adelaide Remand Centre today, delivering just three words to the reporters gathered outside.

“I certainly think these guys have a good deal when they can plead guilty, pay some money and get a short sentence compared to the sentence of those victims whose lives he wreaked havoc with,” he stated.

One of Munro’s victims recently reached out to the Parole Board, hoping to ensure that Munro remains incarcerated.

“I need this man to serve his full sentence behind bars to prove the system works and his wealth, confidence, and ability to manipulate people means nothing,” the victim expressed in his letter.

Munro is currently serving the remainder of his sentence under home detention, subject to stringent parole conditions, including electronic monitoring, until his sentence concludes in 2029.

In 2016, Munro was also questioned over the disappearance of the Beaumont children, but police found no evidence linking him to the high-profile case.
