A significant weather warning has been issued for much of the northeast Queensland coastline, stretching from Townsville to Mackay. This alert includes Bowen, Proserpine, and the Whitsunday Islands, as residents brace for potential cyclonic conditions.
Queensland Premier David Crisafulli has assured the public that the state is ready to handle the looming threat. “The locals know their patch and the challenges,” he emphasized, expressing confidence in the preparedness of the communities.

Crisafulli highlighted the strategic placement of swift-water rescue units, police, State Emergency Service (SES) officers, and paramedics. These teams are poised to assist residents and ensure safety on the ground as the situation develops.
Meanwhile, in the northwest, the communities of Gulf Country are grappling with major flooding along the Flinders River. The floodwaters have already caused significant damage, with livestock losses expected to be substantial.
Further concerns arise as major flood warnings have been declared for the Herbert, Haughton, and Tully rivers, signaling a need for vigilance across the region.
