In a recent address from Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump unveiled a new class of battleships, promising they would bolster American military dominance, rejuvenate the country’s shipbuilding industry, and instill fear in adversaries globally. “They’ll help maintain American military supremacy, revive the American ship-building industry, and inspire fear in America’s enemies all over the world,” Trump stated.
Standing beside illustrations of the new “Trump class” battleships, Trump expressed his intention to be directly involved in their design, emphasizing his commitment to the project.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Navy has been actively involved in a series of operations to intercept oil tankers in the Caribbean, although these missions are primarily led by the U.S. Coast Guard.
This month, the U.S. has successfully intercepted two tankers near Venezuela. Most recently, on Sunday, the Coast Guard engaged in an “active pursuit” of the large tanker Bella 1, which resisted U.S. seizure attempts.
While the current status of this pursuit remains uncertain, U.S. officials consider the operation a success. The tanker, which was empty and en route to Venezuela for oil, has since reversed course and is now moving away from the country.
